PRODUCTS AND PERSONS COVERED

This limited warranty covers Number 1 and Premium grade Shakes and Shingles manufactured by Platinum Cedar.

TRANSFER AND WARRANTY

This limited warranty is extended to the original homeowner/ purchaser. The warranty may be transferred to another person or entity one time providing the transfer is made within 7 years of the original installation date. If a transfer does occur within the 7 years requirement, any provision of this warranty that applies or refers to the original owner becomes applicable to the transferee. This transfer will require a written notice and payment of a warranty transfer fee in the amount of Twenty Five Dollars U.S. to Platinum Cedar. Platinum Cedar reserves the right to modify or rescind this warranty transferability provision, including the amount of any warranty transfer fee, at anytime.

SCOPE OF THE WARRANTY

Platinum Cedar warrants to the original owner that the warranted product has been manufactured, inspected and graded in accordance with UBC standard #15‐3 and #15‐4. The warranted products will remain free from defects as described in these UBC standards at the time of manufacture.

Product Warranty Periods are as follows:

40 Year Limited Coverage

#1 Grade 16” & 18” Shingles
#1 Grade 18” & 24” Tapersawn Shakes

40 Year Limited Coverage

Premium 18” & 24” Tapersawn Shakes #1 Grade 24” x 1⁄2” Shakes

40 Year Limited Coverage

Premium and Select 24” x 1⁄2 “ Shakes #1 Grade 24” x 3⁄4” Shakes

50 Year Limited Coverage

Premium and Select 24” x 3⁄4” Shakes #1 Grade 24” x 1” Shakes

REMEDIES

If the warranted product leaks within the stated warranty period due to original product defect, upon receiving a legitimate claim, Platinum Cedar, at its sole election and subject to the limitation and exclusions of the warranty, will either:

  • Refund a pro‐rated amount of the original purchase price of the product deemed defective.
  • Or provide replacement Shakes or ShinglesEXCLUSIONS AND LIMITATIONSThe Limited Warranty is for the Platinum Cedar products only. It does not cover the installation, labor, application or removal cost or any other costs associated with the installation process. This limited warranty is the only warranty offered by Platinum Cedar and shall prevail over any other warranty whether written, oral or implied by the company.This warranty does not cover product failure due to:
    1. Hail, tornado, windstorm, flood, fire, explosion, earthquake or any act of God.
    2. Improper installation. Application not in accordance with locally accepted building codes.
    3. Damage caused by any material or equipment used in the installation process.
    4. Improper upkeep or maintenance, normal wear and tear or normal discoloration.
    5. Improper handling.
    6. Improper ventilation or roof drainage not in accordance with FHA standards.
    7. Repairs or alternations made to the roof after the original installation.
    8. Areas with a climate index of more than 65 as identified by the USDA Forest Service research unless theproduct has been CCA treated.

    REGISTRATION

    This limited warranty is effective upon registration with Platinum Cedar. To register the homeowner must submit the following form within 45 days of installation. The registration form must be accompanied by copies of all related sales invoices and ten original labels from Platinum Cedar warranted product. After receiving the required information Platinum Cedar will send acknowledgement of registration to the homeowner.

    CLAIM PROCEDURE

    All claims must be made within 30 days of discovery of the defect to which the claim relates. Send a written description of the claim along with 10 original copies of Platinum Cedar labels, the warranty registration form and warranty acknowledgement to:

    Platinum Cedar reserves the right to have a qualified representative inspect all warranted products that are claimed to be defective under the terms of this warranty.

Fill out registration after installation is complete. Platinum Cedar must receive registration form within 45 days of installation for warranty to be valid. Remember to retain a copy for your records.
