Why Cedar?
There’s a reason Western Red Cedar has been the roof and siding of choice on the West Coast for well over a century — and why our family has built three generations around it. Here’s what makes cedar different from everything else on the market.

1. Beauty nothing else matches
Warm reds, ambers and honey tones with a grain you can see and feel. No two roofs are exactly alike. Over the years cedar weathers naturally to a silver-grey patina that fits the BC landscape like it grew there — because it did.
2. It insulates — naturally
Cedar’s low density makes it one of the best natural insulators of any roofing or siding material. It helps keep a home cooler in summer and warmer in winter, which means less work for heating and cooling — comfort you can feel, and energy you don’t have to buy.
3. Built-in resistance to rot and insects
Western Red Cedar heartwood carries natural oils that resist decay and insects — the tree’s own defence, no coatings required. It’s why cedar posts, shakes and siding have outlasted generations of BC weather.
4. Lightweight, but tough
Cedar delivers real strength at a fraction of the weight of concrete, tile or slate. That means less load on the structure, easier handling on the job, and a roof that stands up to wind, rain and snow season after season.
5. A renewable BC resource
Cedar is grown, harvested and milled right here in British Columbia. We work to reforestation standards alongside government and First Nations partners, so the forests that built this province keep building it.
6. Proven for centuries
Coastal First Nations built canoes, longhouses and totem poles from this same tree because nothing else lasted like it. A century of cedar roofs across North America says the same thing.
